New Neighbors -- Program Information

Components of the New Neighbors Program include:

English Classes: We offer nine levels of adult English class with a carefully structured and results-oriented curriculum
Childcare During Class: Children--infants to four years old--participate in developmentally appropriate activities
Family Literacy: Parents and children participate in English literacy and pre-literacy activities together in an elective class.
Community Access: Guest speakers and field trips provide information to connect students with community resources
Hospitality: The ESL environment fosters a caring community and friendship across many different cultures

New Neighbors is supported by financial and in-kind contributions from many caring individuals, business, foundations, churches, and civic groups because fees do not cover the cost of providing our high quality program.

We are especially grateful to our volunteer teachers and tutors, and to Christ Church for the generous donation of classrooms and childcare facilities.

Inclement Weather Policy

New Neighbors is open when Alexandria Public Schools are open.
If Alexandria City Schools open late, classes will begin at 10:30 am.
