Building Better Futures provides at-risk Latino and immigrant ESL high school students in Alexandria, Virginia with the support and services needed to succeed in school and beyond. The program provides one-on-one tutoring and mentoring to 235 students at T.C. Williams High School. Program goals include leadership, improving language proficiency and literacy rates, and increasing the number of Latino students entering post-secondary educational programs.
Building Better Futures provides structure, guidance, support, friendship, and a positive perspective on life. The program keeps kids in school, out of trouble, and focused on the future. It is well-documented that family, school, and community are the three major influences on a child’s life. Building Better Futures brings these groups together to create an environment for academic achievement and positive social and emotional development.
