Family and Parent SupportBuilding Better Futures provides special programming designed to help improve home-school relations and support for student academic achievement. One-on-one support includes translation at parent-teacher conferences, setting up meetings with school personnel, referrals to other community resources, and providing transportation to school meetings. The program also offers parent workshops addressing key issues such as gang prevention, post-secondary education, and employment and immigration status. Our partnerships with Alexandria City Public Schools, local non-profits, and individual volunteers enhance the program and provide additional opportunities for our families. English as a second language and computer literacy classes are offered, free charge to parents of participating students. |
