Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend

Our 44th Annual Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend and Parade was held on December 5-6, 2014, presented in partnership with The Scottish Government, The Saint Andrew's Society of Washington, D.C. and the City of Alexandria. A full lineup of festive events celebrated the rich Scottish heritage of Old Town Alexandria - tours of historic Old Town homes decorated for the season, a holiday marketplace full of unique gifts, a children's party with Santa, heather and greens sales and an evening of tasting fine Scotch that included a Virginia countryside getaway raffle drawing.  The signature event, the Scottish Walk Parade, featured U.S. Based Senior Diplomat of the Scottish Government Donnie Jack as grand marshal.  Donnie led Scottish clans, pipe and drum bands, Scottish dancers, re-enactment groups, canine marchers, local dignitaries and, of course, Santa Claus, through the streets of Old Town.

The Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend & Parade is the largest fundraising activity for The Campagna Center and is coordinated and planned by The Junior Friends of The Campagna Center. Since 1970, Junior Friends has provided critical fundraising and volunteer support to the Center. Proceeds from the Walk Weekend benefited our educational programs that serve nearly 2,000 children, youth, adults and families daily in Alexandria.
