Prior to moving to Alexandria in 1984, Bridget Weaver served as the Assistant Slide Librarian at Cornell University in The Art History Department. She changed careers upon moving to Alexandria, selling residential real estate in Old Town and the surrounding area until she began raising a family and becoming a homemaker and volunteer. Bridget joined the Junior Friends of The Campagna Center in the late 1980’s, served as president of The Old Presbyterian Meeting House Pre-school Parent Association and President of the Douglas MacArthur Elementary School Parent Teacher Association where she also chaired numerous committees and volunteered as a tutor. As a Junior Friend she chaired the Scottish Christmas Walk Collector’s Corner. She has chaired the Supporting Friends since 2009. This is her second tenure on The Board after serving seven years from 2004-2011 during which she served as Secretary and Parliamentarian and raised over $100,000 to sustain an enrichment program for The Center. She chaired the Program Committee and served on the Development Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee. Bridget has also volunteered for Christ Church, chairing Vacation Bible School and teaching in the Sunday School classroom. In addition, she has organized and cooked dinners for The Carpenter’s Shelter, delivered Meals-on-Wheels and worked for The Christ Child Project.
