Board Member

Laura Lawler

For over 30 years, Laura has been a committed volunteer of The Campagna Center, beginning her service as one of its Junior Friends, the event fundraising arm of the organization. Over that time she has served on the Board on three different occasions, serving as Treasurer, Vice Chair, and now Chair of the Board of Directors. Her Board Committee experience includes the Finance Committee, the Human Capital Committee, the Mission and Capacity Committee, and the Executive Committee.

In addition to her service to The Campagna Center, Laura has served her Belle Haven Women’s community as both Treasurer and Finance Chair for several years. She has been active in other volunteer fundraising activities on behalf of her son’s schools and her company.  She was one of the auction chairs for Oakwood School’s first ever fundraising event, exceeding all event estimates. Additionally, she and her husband co-chaired Christchurch School’s Legacy Fund. Under Laura’s leadership, SunTrust Bank raised over $100,000 for two consecutive years for the Greater Washington Heart Walk, the first in the history of the Walk.

Currently Laura is a Senior Vice President and Credit Risk Officer for SunTrust Bank. She has over 40 years of experience in banking, all with SunTrust and its antecedent banks. For the majority of that time she has been engaged in various risk management roles but she also worked as a commercial relationship manager, serving large Corporates and Municipalities. Her primary specialty is lending to the Government Services sector and she is recognized within SunTrust as an industry expert.

Laura is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of The College of William and Mary. Her thesis for the Stonier Graduate School of Banking “Lending to Government Contractors: A General Overview” was accepted for publication and is housed in the Library of Congress.
