Program Purpose
Meeting the needs of children and families each year requires a reliable stream of flexible funding—and Campagna Center’s committed donors have dependably provided this kind of support. To recognize this extraordinary generosity, and to maintain and grow it as a key part of the organization’s annual funding, the “Guardian Angels” program was born. Like “giving circles” or “donor clubs” at other nonprofits, the program seeks to encourage individuals, corporations, and institutions to make major yearly donations to the organization and to celebrate these donors’ impact through special benefits. The stronger this unique group of supporters becomes, the more Campagna can do to improve lives in Alexandria.
Who
While every gift made to Campagna is crucial—from an hour of volunteering to a donation of diapers to a gift of just a few dollars—those who can give $1,000 or more annually make an outsized impact on one of Campagna’s biggest challenges: raising flexible resources each year. There are always things that our other, more–restricted sources of income can’t cover, including meeting the total costs of delivering our programs; ensuring we have the staff, tools, and know-how to implement our entire operation; and investing in the constant evolution that’s required to address ever-shifting community needs. If you are interested in providing this kind of support, and in being a cornerstone of Campagna, you might want to become—or renew your membership as—a Guardian Angel.

For 2025-26, the membership levels, along with their associated benefits, are as follows:

In addition, Guardian Angels get early access to the tax credits that we are able to provide under The Neighborhood Assistance Act Tax Credit Program for Education. The program, administered by the Virginia Department of Education, allows individuals or businesses to receive state tax credits worth up to 65% of eligible donations. For example, if a donor gives Campagna a gift of $1,000, we can grant them $650 worth of tax credits. There are some limitations, and donors must fill out part of a short form, but this great benefit is a strong fit for Guardian Angel donations. Campagna has been given credits for the NAPE program year of July 2026 – June 2027, and we will gladly award them to donors on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning with our Guardian Angels.

Additionally, we are always interested in improving our donors’ experience, including the benefits provided to our Guardian Angels. If you have ideas, please let us know!
Eligibility
- Guardian Angels must make a gift of $1,000 or more at least once every 12 months.
- Cumulative donations of $1,000 or more in a 12-month period are eligible, but only if the donor announces their intentions and donation schedule in advance.
- Donations must be made to our general fund (a.k.a. “unrestricted” or “flexible” gifts), thus allowing us the flexibility to put the resources towards the areas of greatest need.
- Event sponsorships and tickets are not eligible, as they come with other benefits and are recognized in different ways.
- In-kind gifts are not eligible and are recognized in different ways.
