A group of 14 high school students ranging from freshmen to seniors visited two area schools as part of The Campagna Center’s Building Better Futures program. On April 20, students departed TC Williams via bus to Morgan State University, a historically black college, located outside of Baltimore. Their visit included a presentation from the admissions department, a tour of the campus and classrooms, and ended with lunch in the dining hall.
"I have been volunteering with Wright to Read since 2016. My favorite part about volunteering is being able to reach beyond social constructs to make a connection with someone who is completely different from me. Volunteering helps me to remember that although we all may have different backgrounds, we can still relate to each other, learn from each other and help each other succeed.
For more than 70 years, The Campagna Center has been helping children, teens, and adults in Alexandria reach their potential by supplementing public services with vital pre-K education, after-school programs, tutoring and mentoring, family support services, and English classes for immigrants. We could not do the work we do without community partners such as AHC Affordable Housing.
Each year, the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce hosts a Business Awards competition to honor local companies and organizations for their positive contributions to the Alexandria community. Each of the businesses nominated must set a high standard for excellence and innovation with their business practices and community involvement.

Alexandria, VA. – February 12, 2016 – For almost two decades, The Campagna Center has ushered in spring with its annual Toast to Fashion – an evening of sipping, shopping, and most importantly, supporting the work of The Campagna Center. Fashionistas from all over the DMV flock to the notable style event in search of spring’s hottest trends from their favorite neighborhood boutiques.
Alexandria, Va. – February 1, 2016 – The Campagna Center of Alexandria will be hosting NASA Administrator Charles Bolden on March 30, 2016 for a presentation and question and answer session. The general public is welcome to attend. A networking breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m., followed by the presentation from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m.
Centenarian Virginia Wade Ames has led a life of creativity, using the arts to express her love of life, people, and beauty. Ames is a cultural catalyst, not only bringing interesting people together but also seeing potential for bringing about good - her work to get the Torpedo Factory Center for the Arts established and her volunteer days at The Campagna Center are prime examples.
