Board Member
Laura
Lawler
Retired Senior Vice President, Truist

For over 40 years, Laura has been a committed volunteer of The Campagna Center, beginning her service as one of its Junior Friends, the then event fundraising arm of the organization.  Over that time, she served on the Board on three different occasions, serving as Treasurer, Vice President, and lastly as Chair.  Her Board experience includes the Finance Committee, the Human Capital Committee, the Mission and Capacity Committee, and the Executive Committee.  Most recently she served on the Forward Together Capital Campaign.
In addition to her service to The Campagna Center, Laura has served her Belle Haven Women’s community as both Treasurer and Finance Chair for several years.  She currently is also serving as the President of the Board of The Belle Haven Citizens Association.  Laura was also active in other volunteer fundraising activities on behalf of her son’s schools and her employer.  She was one of the auction chairs for Oakwood School’s first ever fundraising event, exceeding all event estimates.   And under Laura’s leadership, SunTrust–now Truist–raised over $100,000 for two consecutive years for the Greater Washington Heart Walk, the first in the history of the Walk.
Laura retired in 2021 as a Senior Vice President from Truist Bank and its antecedent banks after almost 48 years of service. For much of that time, she was engaged in various risk management roles.  Her primary specialty was lending to the Government Services sector, and she was recognized by Truist as an industry expert.
